Aeropress is a coffee brewing device that was invented in 2005 by Alan Adler. It is a handheld, plunger-style machine that brews coffee under pressure, using a paper filter. Aeropress coffee is known for being smooth and rich, without the bitterness often associated with brewed coffee.

It is also versatile – you can use it to make espresso-style coffee or even cold brew. Whether you’re a coffee aficionado or just looking for an easy way to make a great cup of joe, the Aeropress is worth checking out.

What are the benefits of brewing with an Aeropress?

Some of the key benefits of brewing Aeropress espresso include its intense flavor and bold body, which makes it perfect for those who enjoy a strong and satisfying cup of coffee. In addition, many people also appreciate how easy it is to make Aeropress espresso, a pour-over, and anything in between.

As an Espresso
This is a special type of coffee that is prepared using the Aeropress brewing method, which involves extracting through slow pressure a higher bean-to-water ratio than the regular Aeropress formula.

This unique approach to brewing produces a beverage with an intense flavor and bold body, making it a popular choice for coffee lovers looking for an extra dose of caffeine or a flavorful pick-me-up during the day. There are many benefits to brewing your coffee with an Aeropress, including its ease of use, versatility, and portability.

As a Pour-over or Standard Brewing Recipe
There are countless recipes on Youtube and some of those have even won major competitions. Just don’t expect those to work for your coffee. Each competition uses a specialty coffee the average person will not have access to.

As with all brewers and beans, it is best to find the perfect balance for you.

How to use an Aeropress

To get started with Aeropress espresso, you will need to choose the right equipment and beans. When it comes to choosing beans, you should look for high-quality whole beans that have been roasted recently and stored properly.

As for equipment, you will need an Aeropress brewer and some filters, along with a grinder to finely grind your coffee beans. Once you have all of the essentials, the brewing process itself is fairly straightforward and involves just a few simple steps:

  1. Place a filter inside the Aeropress chamber and add ground coffee to it.
  2. Slowly pour hot water over the ground coffee to saturate it.
  3. Using gentle pressure, press down on the plunger until all of the liquid has been extracted from the grounds and into your cup or glass.
  4. Enjoy your delicious cup of AeroPress espresso!

It is recommended to start with 14 grams of coffee to 200 grams of water with a medium-fine grind.

I prefer to use an inverted method with 260 grams of water and 18 grams for light to medium-roasted coffee. But that’s just me.
